So I stopped into Adorama about 2 weeks ago and I found this bargain bin of expired color negative film for a dollar each. I couldn’t pass that deal up so I bought 5 rolls of expired konica vx400 film. I figured at that price, I might as well try something a little less typical. I decided that I would cross process the color negatives in e6 chemicals. I had tried this once before and I fell in love with the results. Usually it gives a nice vintage, desaturated image that ends up having a yellowish green tint, depending on the film. I have to say I have become hooked on this technique, and as you may or may not know I do a lot of traditional cross processing. But I am quickly finding the soft vintage tones to be more inviting. The images take you into a time warp to days long gone by. Traditional xpro can be nice as well, dont get me wrong. But unfortunately sometimes it may be too rich, kind of like eating something too sweet. I find this to be a great blend of color shift and low dynamic range. In other words, I think its pretty cool. Go ahead and try it out!
